Many aspects of a student’s application are already set by the time we begin working with them at the beginning of senior year. Getting started early with personalized advising can put any student in a much more competitive position for direct medical program admission. We strongly recommend starting the process as early as possible with the Pre-Med Coach for High School Students. Our College and Physician Advisors provide continuous mentorship to ninth and tenth graders to help them build their personal brand for a standout application.

ADVISING SERVICES

• Class Planning: Work with a College and Physician Advisor to plan courses that will set you up for success for AP exams, standardized tests, undergrad pre-med coursework and the college admissions process.
• Extracurricular Activities: Get advice on activities that look impressive on your pre-med or BS/MD college application, and will help you grow individually and as a future doctor. Whether you are interested in community service, medical missions, or completing a research project, we can help!
• Summer Planning: Gain advice on leadership opportunities and internships to make your summers productive for your pre-med or BS/MD college application.
• Passion Projects: Extensively work with your advisors on developing and implementing a passion project which will position you for college application success.

For students entering their senior year of high school, applying to college can be one of the most stressful things a student does in his or her academic career. Applying to direct medical programs adds a new dimension to that process, bringing with it even more complexity and confusion. With our help, the application process will be streamlined and optimized to give our students their best chance for admissions success. Our admissions packages include a comprehensive review of every aspect that goes into the student’s application. A team of experienced medical advisors (all current students in direct medical programs) will be assigned to guide the student throughout his/her entire application process. This package includes:

• College Selection Assistance: During the summer after junior year, advisors will work directly with the student to create a list of direct medical programs that he/she should plan on applying to. Advisors have extensive knowledge of the details of direct medical programs, including application timelines and program competitiveness. We will evaluate the student’s fit for each program and mold an application list that includes a range of programs to give him/her the best chance at a good fit.
• Essay editing: As the student begins the essay writing process, advisors can help brainstorm topics, as well as provide sample essays for reference. Once a draft is written, advisors will work closely with the student through unlimited draft revisions to all essays, ensuring that the final product is of the highest quality. This includes the Common App essay as well as ALL essays
• Interview Preparation: Students will be provided with sample interview questions and tried-and-true strategies. Advisors will conduct mock interviews with the student and provide personalized feedback.
• Application Review: Advisors will perform a comprehensive review of each of 10 applications to ensure the student has presented all the requested material in the best possible way.
• Q & A service: Throughout the application cycle, advisors will be available by email to answer questions about the application process.

Most medical programs require the applicants to complete an interview with at least one faculty member before the admissions decision is made. Making a good impression during this interview can make or break your medical application. High school students often do not have prior experience with the high-pressure interviews they will encounter when applying to direct admissions programs. We are here to help!

OUR INTERVIEW PREP PACKAGE INCLUDES:

• A set of common questions that have been used previously in program interviews, along with some helpful hints and tried-and-true strategies on how to answer them
• Mock interviews with a MedSchoolCoach physician advisor trained in conducting combined medical program interviews.
• Personalized feedback on performance, areas of weakness, and suggestions on how to improve
• Preparatory one-on-one video session prior to first mock interview
